The walkable Ohio River town was established in 1867 and originally known as “Depreciation Lands,” because plots were offered to soldiers returning from the Revolutionary War. But Bellevue’s real boom came when it turned into a streetcar suburb in 1892.

1 Thing to Know

Even before Prohibition, Bellevue was a “dry” town. It wasn’t until a 2015 ballot referendum that the community could begin selling booze.

Revival on Lincoln is an upscale American restaurant inside a restored 120-year-old Colonial-style building that formerly served as a family home and funeral parlor. The bar is especially fun, and they have space for events outside and upstairs.

For a great brew, Lincoln Avenue Brewery has a retro after-work vibe.

My takeout pick: spicy basil noodles from Thai Tamarind.

For dessert: Grab cookies of every flavor at Good L’oven Cookie Shop; and pies, cakes, & pastries from Lincoln Bakery.

🛍️ Shop

Find vintage gear at The Closet; handcrafted candles at PSquare Scents; and metaphysical goods and tarot readings at The Menagerie.

Don’t miss the Bellevue Farmers Market every Wednesday at Bayne Park from 3 to 7 p.m. until Oct. 26.

🛹 Go, See, Do!

Take your pup to play at the Bellevue Dog Woods, check out a book at the historic Andrew Bayne Memorial Library, have a picnic in Bayne Park, and if it’s your thing, there’s a skate park there, too.
