How to Date Yourself in Pittsburgh on Valentine’s Day

00:00:00

Spending time with yourself is just as important as quality time with loved ones. The team is sharing a few favorite ways to enjoy a solo date in Pittsburgh.

Get Ahtside

The city feels magical when you discover a new park — or return to an old favorite. Grab your ear buds and enter into a world of imagination with free audiobook rentals through the Carnegie Library via the Libby or Hoopla apps.

My favorite is grabbing treats from Mayfly Market and picnicking in Pittsburgh’s oldest park, Allegheny Commons. Up next on my list: Seldom Seen Greenway in Beechview.

Not sure where to go? Get started with the city’s trail map.

Hunt & Gather

Go scavenging at local shops and take your supplies home to have a special night in. Executive producer Marylee Williams recommends brewing yourself a blend from Gryphon Tea Company in Bloomfield.

Add a pleasant scent to your tea time, too! Did you know you can fill any container at PGH Candle in East Allegheny? Find pretty glassware at a local thrift store and fill it with your favorite aroma – mine is rosemary and fig.

Scream Into the Void

It sounds dramatic, but what we really mean is… do whatever gets your nervous energy out. Maybe it’s producer Sophia Lo’s favorite activity: boxing! (Try Level Red Boxing in East Liberty or Mayweather Boxing + Fitness in the Strip District.) You can also take yourself dancing at a Jellyfish party or learn how to line dance with 412Step.

Want to move to your own tune? Check out the Official Silent Party in Homestead where you get your own headphones, control the volume, and switch between three DJ channels.

Treat Yourself

We’re big fans of fancy selfcare like a massage from Spa Jema in Downtown or a facial from Juicy Studio in Sharpsburg — but treating yourself can be with life’s simple luxuries, too!

Riley on Instagram says he loves to hit up the The Pretzel Shop on the South Side and walk around The Color Park. Andy D. likes to catch a movie at the Harris Theatre and treat himself to Dish Osteria.

Personally, I’m a pasta girlie! Order ravioli from Saint Ravioli in Bloomfield or get the decadently layered lasagna from Senti in Lawrenceville.
