How Pittsburgh Helps Kids With Cancer Plan For Parenthood
When children go through treatment for cancer, there’s a risk it could affect their fertility. Pittsburgh is on the cutting edge of something that could help: a process called pediatric fertility treatment. But how does it work for kids who haven’t gone through puberty yet? And what’s it like to broach this subject with families who’ve just received a life-altering diagnosis? Amy Jutca, the fertility preservation program navigator at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, joins us to talk about helping kids and families with their options.
