Parkway East Likely To Reopen Next Week

Lawsuit Alleges Wrongful Death at UPMC Mercy

A Jefferson Hills woman is suing the hospital and two physicians, claiming her husband contracted and died from Legionnaires' disease while he was a patient. UPMC says testing to detect the disease, conducted three days before his death, came back negative.

• Legionella at the jail? Possible byproducts of Legionella, which can cause Legionnaires’ disease, were detected in routine water testing at Allegheny County Jail. Officials are testing water fixtures to see if any have the bacteria. Jail staff were told in an email that so far, no staff nor incarcerated people have reported symptoms or illness. [WTAE]
