Did yinz hear? Our hometown guy Jeff Goldblum is coming back to the Burgh to perform with his band, Mildred Snitzer Orchestra, at Heinz Hall this fall.

The world tour, “Still Blooming: Night Blooms,” features new music with some of Jeff's friends including Charlie Puth, Cynthia Erivo, and Hayley Reinhart.

What Pittsburgh's Talking About

More Severe Weather May Be On the Way

Powerful storms left thousands of Western PA residents without power over the weekend, and more could roll in. Warm temperatures and high humidity are expected for Thursday, potentially creating conditions for “damaging wind gusts and tornadoes,” according to the National Weather Service. [🔒 Post-Gazette]

  • Pittsburgh International Airport briefly lost power this past week, but that’s not supposed to happen because of its microgrid. We have the scoop on what happened. [City Cast Pittsburgh]

Death of Haitian Asylum Seeker Ruled Homicide

The county’s medical examiner says Daphy Michel died from hypothermia due to “the actions of another individual” after her release from ICE custody in March. Michel, who was known to have mental health issues, was found unresponsive at a South Side bus station, where she spent at least 24 hours in sub-freezing temperatures. ICE denies any responsibility in her death. [Public Source]

Arts Groups Want Marshall Building Reopened

A coalition of arts and community groups want the city to reopen the three-story mansion in Mellon Park as a public cultural and community hub. The building, former longtime home of the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts, is currently being used as a storage facility. Advocates hope it can host concerts, art exhibits, classes, and more. [WESA]

County Extends Comment Period on Parental Leave

Have thoughts on the county’s paid parental leave proposal? The Allegheny County Health Department is extending its public comment deadline to July 16. The proposal would require employers in the county to provide 18 weeks of paid leave to new parents. PA currently does not have any parental leave laws. [Allegheny County / City Cast Pittsburgh]

The next time you’re walking around Downtown, stop in the Wood Street Galleries above the Wood Street T Station to see this immersive, mesmerizing art exhibit, “Emergent Realities,” by Sharmistha Ray. The three-screen art show “collages painting, original and found footage, and cosmic imagery into a layered visual odyssey.”

Not only was a visit to the galleries a cool reprieve from the humidity outside, but a visual treat that felt calming and sparked some inner child-like joy. Catch it on display until July 5.

Want to see more art for free? Check out the next Cultural Trust gallery crawl on June 26.
