Heart disease is the leading cause of death in Pennsylvania, and February is American Heart Month. Check out these heart and cancer screenings this month in Pittsburgh.

Wednesday, February 7

Join Duquesne University Center for Integrative Health for free blood pressure screenings between 1:30 and 3 p.m. at the Hazelwood Library.

Friday, February 9

Catch a virtual screening of WQED’s “Freedom House Ambulance: First Responders” from 12:30 to 1:30 via Zoom.

Tuesday, February 13

Join a virtual panel discussion from 12 to 1 p.m. moderated by Chief Clinical Diversity Equity and Inclusion Officer Dr. Margaret Larkins-Pettigrew with Pittsburgh’s Chief of EMS Chief Amera Gilchirst; one of the original Freedom House EMTs, John Moon; and Medical Director for Freedom House 2.0 Dr. Emily Lovallo.

Wednesday, February 14

Head to the Hazelwood Family Center from 1 to 3 p.m. for free blood pressure, diabetes screenings, and referrals with Duquesne University Center for Integrative Health.

Get a biometric screen at the Allen Place Valentine’s Day health fair at Allegheny Center Mall from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Saturday, February 17

Get free blood pressure and cholesterol screening, attend “ask the expert” sessions, and get a heart health presentation at UPMC West View Hub from 10 a.m. to noon.

Friday, February 23

Join the Neighborhood Resilience Project from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. for biometric screenings and echocardiograms.
